The purpose of this session is to discover what autonomy is as it relates to ECE and techniques to employ to promote autonomy in the classroom. This focuses on ways offering choices affects pre-school children’s decisions, and attitudes as well as interventions that encourage children to have control over their decisions.
Dr. Suzette Turner is the director of UCF Creative School for children and has been an ECE instructor for over 10 years. Dr. Turner has 15 years experience as a national accreditation validator, CDA specialist and certified CLASS observer. She holds a B.S. in Childcare Administration, M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Ron is a practicing attorney in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with years of experience in child care law. He is a lecturer and consultant, training child care professionals on a variety of management and legal issues. He has co-authored a variety of publications, including "Current Issues in Child Care". Mr. McGuckin has volunteered on numerous boards and committees, receiving many awards and recognitions.
