Sandra Briley, Ph.D.


Sandy Briley is a professor and consultant with over 35 years of educational experience. She currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Texas State University in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences. Sandy consults for the University of Texas Child Development Centers, as well as the Jeremiah Program, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting single mothers in breaking the cycle of generational poverty.  Dr. Briley earned both an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education through the University of Texas. She has served as an instructor at Incarnate Word College, The University of Texas at Austin, and Austin Community College. Formerly Sandy served as Director of the U.T. Child Development Programs, Project Manager for AISD’s Teen Age Parenting Program, and Director and Program Coordinator for Stepping Stone Child Development Centers.

Margaret Collins, M.Ed.


For 24 years Margaret Collins has been director of River Road Church Preschool, a program accredited by the National Accreditation Commission and winner of the 2008 National Child Care Center of the Year. Margaret has a M.Ed. in ECE and has been a consultant for several childcare centers, as well as a workshop presenter in the field of early childhood on the local, state and national levels. In 2002, Margaret was named Director of the Year and in 2008 she was the recipient of Meredith College's Career Achievement Award. Margaret is founder and past president of Richmond's Affiliate organization. She serves as a Validator, and is a former Association Liaison. Margaret also represented the Association on Virginia's Child Day Care Council from 2003-2011.

Eva L. Essa, Ph.D.


Dr. Essa, a Foundation Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, has taught early childhood development and education for more than 35 years.  She is the author of several texts and many articles in the field of early childhood education.  For 16 years, she was the director of the Child and Family Research Center, the early childhood program at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Ronald V. McGuckin, J.D.


Mr. McGuckin is a practicing attorney in Bucks County Pennsylvania with years of experience in child care law. He is a lecturer and consultant, training child care professionals on a variety of management and legal issues. He has co-authored a variety of publications including "Current Issues in Child Care". Mr. McGuckin has volunteered on numerous boards and committees, receiving many awards and recognitions.

Hilde Reno, Ed.D.

Dr. Reno taught in British Infant School in Coventry, England under the Fulbright teacher exchange program, and was owner/operator of a private pre-school/primary school.  Dr. Reno joined NSU MSI-Tampa as project manager for one of the first accreditation facilitation projects in the country.  She designed and implemented a successful child-centered kindergarten-to-first grade transition project, and is the author of the Handbook for Early Childhood Administrators: Directing with a Mission.  Dr. Reno is currently the Director of Instruction and Special Projects at the Mailman Segal Center  Nova Southeastern University.

Leighan Rinker, Ed.D.


Dr. Rinker has served in the early childhood field for over 30 years as a teacher, center founder/owner/operator, author, presenter, professor and child advocate.  She was instrumental in developing the  Early Childhood Program Director Credential in Florida and served on the Palm Beach Child Care Advisory Council for 11 years.  Dr. Rinker received her Masters in ECE as well as her specialist and doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration from Florida Atlantic University.  She was a professor at FAU and Palm Beach Atlantic University and wrote and taught practitioners the foundational level and advanced level director's credential courses.  Dr. Rinker is the director of Beginnings of Palm Beach Cty which has been accredited by multiple accrediting entities since 1985.
