Healthier Environments in Early Care and Learning Programs

Wednesday, August 26th 2015 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm CENTRAL TIME

Presenter:

Kristie Trousdale, MPH

Program Manager

Children's Environmental Health Network

Have you ever wondered how the environment or the chemicals used in your program impact the children and staff?  Is there a connection between the chemicals used in everyday products, one's exposure to those chemicals and one's health? As a provider, there’s a lot you can do to improve the environmental health of your program.  Armed with knowledge and support, making your program healthier and safer can be a reality.

In this webinar you will have an opportunity to:

- Learn about major environmental health issues affecting young children.

- Understand why children are uniquely vulnerable to environmental hazards.

- Take an in depth look at Pesticides, and learn free or low-cost preventative actions to reduce environmental health risks  related to these known environmental health hazards.

- Be introduced to the Eco-Healthy Child Care® program and related endorsement opportunity.

The science-based and award-winning Eco-Healthy Child Care® (EHCC) program helps early childhood learning environments to be as healthy, safe and green as possible by reducing children’s exposure to toxic chemicals. EHCC is a national program that seeks to improve the environmental health of children by partnering with child care professionals to eliminate or reduce environmental health hazards found in child care facilities. By reducing exposure to toxics, the program creates healthier environments in and around child care facilities, and in so doing, helps set children on the path to achieving their full potential.

Kristie Trousdale is the Program Manager for the Children’s Environmental Health Network, where she leads project and program planning, implementation, and evaluation, directs the marketing and communication efforts, and leads the science advisory committee and CEHN’s new research efforts.
